Apple Crisp

I was taking a few pictures while making this. You know… in case I want to do a recipe post. (Not all documented recipes turn out well)

But when everyone starts crowding around the oven before it’s done moaning that apple crisp is their favorite, I think that’s generally a good sign.

Plus, it seems an appropriately warm, home-y thing to eat when March is so set on coming in like a lion around here.

So, crisp for everyone today! ๐Ÿ™‚

 

Apple Crisp

Ingredients:

Base:

12 apples

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. salt

juice and zest of one lemon

1/2 cup flour

1 cup sugar

1/2 tsp. almond extract

Apples in the bowl, la-la-la-la…

Topping:

1 cup flour

1 cup almond flour/meal

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tsp. salt

1/2- 1 tsp. cinnamon

1/4- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

1/8- 1/4 tsp ground cloves

2 cubes soft butter

1 cup rolled oats

1/4 cup shredded coconut

Confession: this actually isn’t quite how the topping is supposed to look. I *cough* forgot the almond flour. *sigh* After how much trouble I went to not to forget the oats again, too…

 

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350*F
  2. Peel and chop the apples. Put in a bowl and mix with the rest of the base ingredients
  3. In a smaller bowl, mix the topping ingredients, working in the butter with your hands. (Or cutting it in. I do it with my hands, at least.)
  4. Put the apples into a 13×9 pan and crumble the topping over them.
  5. Bake for an hour or until bubbly.

Feel more than free to cut that recipe in half. This is desert/breakfast/second breakfast for everyone in our ten person family, so it’s a kinda big. ๐Ÿ˜›

  2. Alright! Awesome! What time is good for you? Keep in mind all the usual rot of time zones and such. XD
    Yeah, well, see actually I did fall in a volcano, but I got out of it alright; it was the earthquake that took so long. I got trapped between the tectonic plates and had to be rescued. I survived by eating these little creature that look like gigantic moles called Under-Earthlings. They actually tasted like chicken. I was rescued just last week, and am now writing a book on my horrific adventures. Care to edit for me? : )
